Entire musical journey below, if you would like to know more!!
By the time Emily was speaking, she was singing original songs such as breakout hit “Marshmallows and Soup”. At 12 years old Emily received her first guitar with lessons and started discovering the next steps to song composition and writing. Quickly, she started churning out songs as frequently as diary entries, which they kind of were. Once in high school, she was regularly doing open mics and experimenting with recording her music and uploading it to places such as SoundCloud. Mild production in iPad GarageBand was also occurring in these years. In college, Emily taught herself the ukulele and continued occasional open mics, including a charity open mic she had organized herself.
Upon graduating with a Bachelor’s in Digital Design, she realized instead of the lax approach to music in college, she should invest even more time into her music going forward. Working full time, she saved up the money to buy the equipment for recording to become a music producer herself. She learned a bit about music production with her first release “Love Me Too” in 2021, recorded and mixed in GarageBand, and mastered and distributed through CD Baby.
Throughout the next year she spent time learning new techniques, like creating original beats, teaching herself Ableton, attending bass lessons, and the art of mastering. With all of this new knowledge, she released “On My Own” in 2022 through Distro Kid. In 2022, she moved to Philadelphia to further explore the local music scene after starting open mics up again post pandemic. “Rage” was released soon after in 2023.
Emily became a little dissatisfied with what felt like a growth roadblock. After attending a couple of Philly Rising Open Mics and networking with other musicians, she decided to seek out a membership with REC Philly for their awesome recording facilities, events, and clubs. With the help of a community’s knowledge and skills, the time has finally come for EP How Do You Grow? to go out into the world. Can’t wait to keep growing!!
